Jakeb was raised in Boise, Idaho, where his report cards in language classes didn’t suggest he would someday become an accomplished linguist. But after graduating, his global adventures took him to more than 70 countries, and he spent over two decades living abroad in Russia, Ukraine, China, Singapore, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Thailand, and Indonesia. During this time, he built various businesses—from running a gym in China to operating a chocolate company in Malaysia—discovering firsthand how crucial local language skills can be for professional success and personal connections.

Along the way, Jakeb recognized that the less-than-stellar grades of his school years were a reflection not of his ability, but of a traditional language-teaching system that wasn’t working. By learning and practicing languages in real-life settings, deeply immersing himself in each new culture, and devouring countless books, he developed a practical, intuitive learning method. Friends and acquaintances who long struggled with language barriers found they could finally make sense of grammar and conversation after just one session with Jakeb’s techniques.

Inspired by these breakthroughs, Jakeb dedicated himself to creating an accessible, results-oriented language system. In this book, he shares the approach he’s honed through years of teaching and hands-on experience.
